Dates : Saturday 25th, Sunday
26th and Monday 27th
August 2012
1, Dress cool and comfortably
2. Remember the Carnival
Route is over 3 miles long and there are
many activities on the roads within the route. By the end of the day you would have walked about 6 miles so
comfortable footwear is vital.
3. Essential Carnival equipment includes:
* Carnival guide to find out where the activities are located
* Money to buy food and other goodies
* A rag to mop the sweat
All this should be carried in a bum-bag or small ruck-sack so that you can keep your hands free for jumping.
4. When you get to Carnival and want to follow a Mas-band or Steelband, head for the route.
5. If you prefer the Sound Systems head for the interior of the route.
6. If you want to sit on the grass and listen to international artists, head for the
World Music Stage at Powis Square or the big stage at Horniman's
Pleasance.
7. If you are following a Mas band do not jump in front of the costumes, wait until the costumes have gone by and jump
behind them in the non-costumed section. Each band has one.
8. Remember that Carnival floats are large lorries, do not run across their paths and do not get too close to them.
9. Do not jump on and off floats
10. Always go with the flow of the crowd, not against it.
11. If you have enjoyed yourself properly, you will have done
the equivalent of twelve hours of aerobics, socarobics, raggarobics or whatever takes your fancy!
13. Above all - enjoy yourself
